5 years in the making

What began as one of our original university research prototypes quickly evolved into our most asked about braille fashion piece: The Denim Jacket. It's always been my favorite too—not because of the design, but because of the significant milestone it represents.

I will never forget the first time one of our blind participants was able to successfully read the braille beadwork on one of our prototypes. It was the denim jacket and we just began testing a new technique. The smile that appeared on her face in that moment, the joy that this entire braille fashion journey brought her, and how proud she was of what we accomplished together are why being a fashion designer and starting conversation about disability inclusion is so important to me.

Fashion isn’t about sight. Fashion is about feeling, from the touch of a soft fabric to the rush of emotions and empowerment you experience when you put on your favorite outfit or read braille on clothing. The launch of our denim jacket is the culmination of years of hard work and dedication. It signifies the growth of Aille Design and our commitment to working with the community to create fashion that is truly for everyone.

What is accessible packaging?

Request an accessibility card to receive detailed information about your purchase in braille or large print format. This is information that would typically be found on the garment tag or care label, such as wash instructions and materials.

Can I choose my own braille text?

Yes! Custom braille text can be selected for t-shirts. Personalize your own braille text up to 25 characters including spaces. We use uncontracted braille for our beadwork designs, which means each letter is represented by one braille character.

Note: Custom phrases are case sentences. If you would like a letter to be capitalized, this will add an extra braille character to your chosen phrase.
